… Yeah, actually “viola” means literally “raped” (past simple, not participle/adjective), oh Arceus. If that makes you feel better, Black, I’m a native French speaker and this never occurred to me. It’s not a French given name but it’s really understood as a variation on “Violet”, etc (we do have “Violette” and that is the French word for the color and the flower, even though technically it could be understood as “small rape”… I guess… my mind is blown).

Well, “Violaine”, “Violette” or “Violine” are all acceptable French names. Heck, her official French name is “Violette”. So “Viola” really doesn’t sound that bad. It’s kind of a pretty name, in fact.
yeah well exept that french are no better than others and we still has brat so we can guess that some of them made fun of her end so she start disliking it so wheter is Violette or Viola it didn’t matter.
Well even if you hadn’t used the english names Violas still the same :L Oh well.
