I don’t think Black ever prevented Kcalb from appearing before. The need simply hadn’t come up before.
Good point, but he didn’t seem to like Kcalb very much when they had that one conversation. I’d assume he’d either come out accidentally or as a last resort when everything else seemed hopeless.
Considering Black was just getting severely injured, I think he was thinking it was a hopeless fight if something didn’t change. Maybe Missingno.’s glitching is limiting his potential in fighting without Kcalb appearing.
